How to advertise to different age ranges

Knowing your target market is vital. And before you say “we’re for everyone” ask yourself are you for people who live 100 miles away? Are you for people who want to train for free? Who don’t want to be coached? My guess is probably not. The more refined your message the better chance you have of getting the right people to click on your ads.

Today, we’ll do a general overview of age range based advertising.

  • Kids & Pre Teens: You’re advertising to parents, and you’re primarily focused on fun, confidence, and their social development. You probably want to stay away from cardiovascular development and even muscle growth – the old pervasive myth that kids shouldn’t lift weights is still a fear in parents’ minds. You can talk about developing coordination and balance.

  • Teens: Talk to the parents about athletic development, injury prevention and safety.

  • Twenties: It’s mainly about looking good naked 👙

  • Thirties: “Toning”, energy, confidence.

  • Forties: Strength and health as you age.

  • Fifties: It’s not too late to future proof your body and be healthy

  • Sixties & Beyond: Avoid death 🤪

This is a very broad overview, and it’s not a clear delineation but rather a scale from aesthetics to longevity.
